E-News > CGSA Announces 2025 Gordon Witteveen Award Winners
The Canadian Golf Superintendents Association (CGSA) and The Toro Company are pleased to announce Jeff Standon and Robbie Moore, Assistant Superintendents at Carnmoney Golf Club, in Calgary Alberta, as the CGSA Gordon Witteveen Award winners for 2025.
The Gordon Witteveen Award, sponsored by The Toro Company, is presented annually by the CGSA to the superintendent or assistant superintendent who has authored the best article for publication in the CGSA GreenMaster magazine during the past year. Jeff and Robbie’s article entitled "Rethinking Hazards: Carnmoney Golf Club’s Innovative Approach to Bunker Renovation", which was published in the Winter 2025 issue of GreenMaster was selected as the winning article. In the article Jeff and Robbie share their experience in what is a very unique bunker renovation project.
“I feel honoured to have been able to be the one to inform both Jeff and Robbie of their article winning the Gordon Witteveen Award,” said Lance Wakefield, Vice-Chair, Communications & Editorial Committee. “Their article is an amazing concept of rethinking bunker construction, allowing for the reallocation of resources at their golf course. As Jeff and Robbie mention in their article, golf courses spend enormous amounts of time and resources on bunker maintenance. This creative concept can shift that focus to other areas of the golf course. It will be neat to see how many properties look to adopt or adapt this method in the future. Congratulations on your commitment to moving maintenance strategies forward and your resilience to stretch a golf course construction season as long as possible.”
Jeff and Robbie will receive an All-Access conference registration and will share a cash award of $500 generously donated from the Toro Company, up to $500 in travel expenses and will be presented with the Gordon Witteveen Award during the Awards Ceremony on Tuesday, February 24, 2026 as part of The Canadian Golf Course Management Conference.
We hope you will participate and congratulate Jeff and Robbie on winning the 2025 Gordon Witteveen Award. To register for the conference or to attend the awards ceremony please visit The Canadian.
CGSA encourages everyone to submit articles to enhance the magazine and share your story with your colleagues.
