MISSISSAUGA, ON - The Canadian Golf Superintendents Association (CGSA) and Foley Company are pleased to announce Kyle Francis, Equipment Manager/Technician from D'Arcy Ranch Golf Club, Okotoks, Alberta, as the CGSA/Foley Company Equipment Technician of the Year Award winner for 2022.

The CGSA/Foley Company Equipment Technician of the Year Award is presented annually to the technician whose nomination is judged to be the best example of an individual who exhibits professionalism, innovation, and a team approach to make a significant contribution to their golf facility and the golf community.

As the winner of this award, Kyle will receive an "All-Access" registration to The Canadian 2023 Golf Course Management Conference from February 22-24; 4 nights accommodation and transportation costs to Vancouver and he will be presented with his award on Wednesday, February 22nd during the Awards luncheon, sponsored by Envu.

Michael Roberts, Superintendent at D'Arcy Ranch Golf Club who nominated Kyle said, "To say we hit the jackpot with our hire is an understatement. Kyle is now completing his 6th season at D'Arcy Ranch and has become not only a leader at our Club, but a leader within the mechanics group in Alberta. At D'Arcy Ranch, Kyle manages our fleet of equipment as well as the fleet of Golf Cars. He is also highly involved in the training and managing of our 20+ seasonal staff. With equipment prices soaring, he has been the key player in keeping our aging fleet in top condition. Over his time at our club, Kyle has been instrumental in aiding in getting our online record keeping programs running, has created regular maintenance schedule programs for our fleet and has continued to improve the functionality of his shop. Finally, and most important, Kyle has fostered an environment where all employees from any department feel comfortable in coming to him with any issues related to club equipment."

“Congratulations Kyle for your outstanding contribution to the team at the D'Arcy Ranch Golf Club as well as your contribution to provide training others in the position. You have proven your commitment to excellence, and you have raised the standard of the D'Arcy Ranch Golf Club and brought excellent recognition to the Equipment Technician. I was fortunate to be the one to call Kyle advising he was selected, and he was honoured to be chosen as the winner. Congratulations Kyle!”

About Foley Company

The Foley Company started making grinders for the turf industry in 1926 and a new patented rear roller mounting system and all-visual gauging system was introduced in 2015 making set-up more efficient than ever. Foley’s grinders enable users to do quick touch-up spin grinding or return to OEM specifications, and this is one of many features that set Foley above the competition. In addition to leading the grinder industry, Foley Company completed the purchase of Air2G2, the industry leader of the soil air-injection process based in Jacksonville, FL in October 2020. Air2G2 is sold worldwide and is quite unique in its decompaction and soil profile health results. “Anytime you can inject good air in and force bad air out of the soil profile, it’s a winner every time. This acquisition allows Foley to offer turf health solutions for both above and below the turf, taking Foley to an exciting new level,” said Greg Turner – Director of Global Sales.
