posted on Oct 10, 2023
The Canadian Golf Superintendents Association (CGSA) is pleased to announce the next phase of its succession plan for the CEO management position.

After Jeff Calderwood’s completion of his 6-year CEO contract, he evolves into an advisory role for the CGSA board of directors. Simultaneously, Kathryn Wood becomes the interim CEO, a promotion from her current COO position.

During Calderwood’s leadership, the CGSA has significantly improved its member benefits, provincial alignment, staff team, financial position and the overall CGSA brand. “We are highly appreciative of the 6 successful years we’ve had under Jeff’s tenure and look forward to his ongoing consultation as we continue to grow”, noted Dustin Zdan, CGSA president.

Wood’s 25 years of CGSA experience provides a seamless CEO transition and great optimism going forward. Her depth of knowledge and relationships within the industry will serve the Association well. Zdan added that “The board congratulates Kathryn on earning this exciting new opportunity as she prepares to lead the CGSA to continued success on behalf of our membership”.

“I am thrilled to accept this position and I really look forward to the growth opportunities ahead”, stated Kathryn Wood. “I have devoted most of my career to the superintendents’ profession and am proud to continue to do so. I’m excited about serving the CGSA membership in this new role.”

Jeff Calderwood commented, “I’m proud of all that we’ve accomplished, and the future is very bright for the CGSA. On a personal note, I would like to thank the CGSA membership, our sponsors, each of the presidents and boards I’ve had the pleasure to work with, and the CGSA staff team who work so hard every day. And a big ‘Cheers!’ to Kathryn.”

This CEO transition period occurs through the month of October, 2023.
