Accredited Assistant Golf Superintendent
Effective July 1, 2011 the Accredited Golf Superintendent™ (AGS®) exam was made available to Assistant Superintendent members. To be eligible to write the exam you must have:
- Three (3) years experience as a CGSA Superintendent or CGSA Assistant Superintendent member; li> Achieve fifty (50) Continuing Education Credits (CEC) within the three (3) previous years;
- Must be a CGSA Member in good standing in either the Golf Superintendent, Golf Course Management or Assistant Superintendent categories when you submit your application;
Examination
The AGS® examination consists of 100 multiple choice type questions (open book format) relating to level one and two skills in the National Occupational Standards. Please refer to the Recommended Readings sheet for the study material for this exam. Candidates must achieve the required passing grade of an overall mark of 70% and a minimum grade of fifty percent (50%) in each section.
Maintaining the Designation
CGSA Assistant Superintendent members who achieve the passing grade on the exam will be awarded the designation of Accredited Assistant Golf Superintendent (AAGS). All other rules and regulations that apply with respect to the collection of CEC and the use of the designation for the Accredited Golf Superintendent™ will apply to the Accredited Assistant Golf Superintendent. This includes retaining your Assistant Superintendent member status and achievement of 90 continuing education credits (CEC) over a 5 year period. This procedure will keep Accredited Assistant Golf Superintendents updated on new developments through participation in educational seminars, conference and other related activities.
If an individual’s membership status changes to Golf Superintendent or Golf Course Management, the individual’s designation will change to Accredited Golf Superintendent™ or AGS®.
As an Accredited Assistant Golf Superintendent™ You Receive:
Authority to use the Accredited Assistant Golf Superintendent™ designation on letterhead, business cards and all forms of addresses as long as you remain an Assistant Superintendent member and meet all other criteria. You will also receive an Accredited Assistant Golf Superintendent™ certificate, an invitation to attend the CGSA Awards Luncheon and the official AAGS® pin. If you wish, your employer will be notified by the CGSA President that you have achieved the Association’s designation
