The Canadian Golf Superintendents Association (CGSA) proudly recognizes long-time member Paul Scenna, MS, Manager of Golf Course Operations at The Toronto Golf Club, as he and his team prepare to host the 112th Canadian Women's Amateur Championship, presented by BDO and conducted by Golf Canada, from July 20–24, 2026.

Founded in 1876, The Toronto Golf Club is celebrating its 150th anniversary in 2026, making this prestigious championship an especially significant occasion.

A CGSA member since 1994, Paul has served as a golf course superintendent for 36 years and has held the Master Superintendent (MS) designation since 2001. He served as President of the Ontario Golf Course Superintendents' Association in 2006 and was honoured with the William Sansom Distinguished Service Award in 2026 in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the profession.

Throughout his career, Paul has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to maintaining exceptional playing conditions while supporting the continued growth and success of the game of golf.

The CGSA extends its best wishes to Paul and his entire team for a successful championship week.

CGSA Member Ryan Cassidy to Co-Host the 121st Canadian Men's Amateur Championship, Presented by BDO, July 25–28, 2026

CGSA member Ryan Cassidy is co-hosting the 121st Canadian Men's Amateur Championship, presented by BDO, at Heritage Pointe Golf Club in Heritage Pointe, Alberta, from July 25–30, 2026.

Ryan has been a member of the Canadian Golf Superintendents Association (CGSA) since 2008. He has served as Superintendent at Heritage Pointe Golf Club for the past seven years and has dedicated 23 years to the turfgrass industry.

Throughout his career, Ryan has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to providing exceptional playing conditions while supporting the continued growth and success of the game of golf. His leadership, expertise, and dedication have helped position Heritage Pointe Golf Club as an outstanding venue for one of Canada's premier amateur golf championships.

CGSA Member Robin Sadler, MS, to Co-Host the 121st Canadian Men's Amateur Championship, Presented by BDO

CGSA member Robin Sadler, MS, AGS, is co-hosting the 121st Canadian Men's Amateur Championship, presented by BDO, at Mickelson National Golf Club in Heritage Pointe, Alberta, from July 25–30, 2026.

Robin has been a dedicated member of the Canadian Golf Superintendents Association (CGSA) since 1995 and holds both the association's prestigious Master Superintendent (MS) and Accredited Golf Superintendent (AGS) designations. With 34 years of experience in the golf course management profession, Robin has earned a reputation for excellence in course conditioning, environmental stewardship, and industry leadership.

In 2024, Robin was recognized with the CGSA/Rain Bird Environmental Achievement Award for his outstanding commitment to sustainable golf course management. He currently serves on the CGSA Accreditation Committee and is a Past President of the Alberta Golf Superintendents Association (AGSA).

Throughout his career, Robin has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to providing exceptional playing conditions while advancing the golf course management profession. Under his leadership, Mickelson National Golf Club became the first GEO Certified® golf facility in Canada in 2024, reflecting the club's dedication to environmental sustainability and responsible course management.

The CGSA extends its best wishes to Robin and the entire team at Mickelson National Golf Club for a successful championship week and an outstanding 121st Canadian Men's Amateur Championship.

CGSA long-time member Graeme Douglas is hosting the 104th PGA Championship of Canada, presented by Tapinn, conducted by the PGA of Canada, at St. Eugene Golf & Casino Resort in Cranbrook, British Columbia, from August 3–7, 2026.

A CGSA member since 1994, Graeme brings 50 years of experience in the golf industry, including 30 years at St. Eugene Golf & Casino Resort since its inception. Throughout his career, he has been dedicated to maintaining exceptional playing conditions while supporting the growth of the game of golf.

Graeme's commitment to excellence has been recognized with several prestigious honours, including the CGSA/RainBird Environmental Achievement Award in 2011, the Gordon Witteveen Award – Article of the Year in 2019, and the BCGSA Golf Superintendent of the Year Award in 2021.

The CGSA extends its best wishes to Graeme and his team for a successful and memorable championship week.

Scott has been a proud member of the Canadian Golf Superintendents Association (CGSA) since 2019 and has served as Superintendent of the Heathlands Course since 2001.

Hosting a national championship is a tremendous accomplishment and a great reflection of the dedication, expertise and leadership of Scott and his entire team. This summer has already been a busy one for the Heathlands crew, who also hosted the Osprey Valley Open in July.

CGSA member Wade Peckham is hosting the CPKC Women's Open, Royal Mayfair Golf Club in  Edmonton, Alberta, from  August 19-23, 2026.

Wade has been a proud member of the Canadian Golf Superintendents Association since 1990 and has served as a golf course superintendent for 35 years, including 16 years as Superintendent at Royal Mayfair Golf Club. His years of experience, leadership, and dedication have played an important role in preparing the course to provide an outstanding championship experience for the players, officials, volunteers, and everyone involved.

Wade was also the recipient of the AGSA Walt Gooder Distinguished Service Award in 2019, recognizing his significant contributions to the golf course management profession.

CGSA member Daniel Ciekiewicz will host the Manitoba Open at Elmhurst Golf & Country Club in Springfield, Manitoba, from August 20–23, 2026.

Daniel has been a member of the Canadian Golf Superintendents Association (CGSA) since 1997 and has served as Superintendent of Elmhurst Golf & Country Club since 2005. He has worked at the club for more than 34 years and was named the 2025 Manitoba Golf Superintendents Association (MGSA) Superintendent of the Year.

The Elmhurst Golf & Country Club is part of the PGA TOUR Americas schedule, making the Manitoba Open a highly anticipated event on the tour calendar.

The Canadian Golf Superintendents Association (CGSA) is proud to recognize Brian Youell, MS, AGS, Superintendent at Uplands Golf Club, as he and his team prepare to host the Digital Commerce Group Open, a PGA TOUR Americas event from September 10–13, 2026.

A dedicated CGSA member since 1994, Brian has been a valued member of the Uplands Golf Club team since 1981. With an impressive 49-year career in the turfgrass industry, Brian has demonstrated exceptional expertise, leadership, and commitment to excellence throughout his career.

Brian’s contributions to the profession have been recognized with numerous prestigious CGSA awards, including:

• CGSA Superintendent of the Year – 2012
• Environmental Achievement Award – 2017
• Gordon Witteveen Award – 2016
• John B. Steel Award – 2022

Brian is also among an elite group of superintendents who have hosted 20 or more PGA TOUR-sanctioned events. The 2026 Digital Commerce Group Open will mark his 24th Tour event, with his first taking place in 1984.

Through decades of dedication and leadership, Brian and his team have helped establish Uplands Golf Club as one of Canada’s premier golf destinations. Their expertise and commitment to course conditioning will be on full display as they prepare to provide players and spectators with an outstanding championship experience.

CGSA Members Drew Rachar and Kurt Mohaupt to Host Canadian Collegiate Invitational Men’s at Oviinbyrd Golf Club

Oviinbyrd Golf Club, alongside Drew Rachar, Director of Agronomy, and Superintendent Kurt Mohaupt, is proud to host the Canadian Collegiate Invitational Men’s, conducted by Golf Canada, from September 12–15, 2026.

Both Drew and Kurt are dedicated members of the Canadian Golf Superintendents Association (CGSA)—Drew since 1995 and Kurt since 2013—and bring an impressive depth of experience and expertise to this national championship.

Drew Rachar, B.Sc. Agr., P.Ag.
Drew brings 40 years of experience in the turfgrass industry. As Director of Agronomy at Oviinbyrd, his education, professional experience, and commitment to excellence play an important role in preparing the course for championship competition.

Kurt Mohaupt
A graduate of the University of Guelph’s Turfgrass Management program (2013), Kurt was the recipient of the Hugh Kirkpatrick Memorial Turfgrass Management Scholarship. He brings 21 years of experience in golf course maintenance and continues to demonstrate his dedication to the golf course management profession.

CGSA Member Dustin Zdan, AGS, is Hosting the ATB Classic presented by Building Trades of Alberta at Blackhawk Golf Club – September 17–20, 2026

The Canadian Golf Superintendents Association (CGSA) is proud to recognize Dustin Zdan, AGS, Superintendent at Blackhawk Golf Club, as he and his team prepare to host the ATB Classic presented by Building Trades of Alberta, a PGA TOUR Americas event, from September 17–20, 2026.

A dedicated CGSA member since 1995, Dustin served as CGSA President in 2023 and holds the Accredited Golf Superintendent (AGS) designation. He was appointed the third Superintendent in Blackhawk Golf Club’s history at the start of the 2022 season, following a 17-year tenure as Superintendent at Connaught Golf Club in Medicine Hat.

Dustin has also demonstrated a strong commitment to the golf course management profession through his leadership with the Alberta Golf Superintendents Association, serving as President in 2014. In recognition of his outstanding service to the profession, he was awarded the Walter Gooder Distinguished Service Award in 2020.

Through decades of dedication and leadership, Dustin and his team have helped establish Blackhawk Golf Club as one of Canada’s premier golf destinations. Their expertise and commitment to exceptional course conditioning will be on full display as they prepare to provide players and spectators with an outstanding championship experience.
