CGSA and OGSA Announce Shift to Virtual Conference

March 1 - 3, 2022
posted on Dec 22, 2021
Mississauga, ON - The Boards of Directors for the Canadian Golf Superintendents Association (CGSA) and the Ontario Golf Superintendents’ Association (OGSA) have announced that they will pivot to a virtual event given the latest variant of concern of Covid-19.

“This was not an easy decision and was not taken lightly; The Canadian has been a highlight on the calendar for many and we were hopeful we could safely host an in-person event this coming January. However, we must protect our members, stakeholders and their families,” said John Scott, AGS, CGSA President. He continued “we know that additional delegates will now be able to attend this event as cross-country travel and hotel accommodations will no longer be required.”

Al Schwemler, OGSA President also shares, “This is a disappointing turn of events. We were looking forward to much needed face to face interactions with colleagues and suppliers from across the country. However, given the speed in which this variant is spreading, the safety of all attendees must be our first priority. Although disheartening, delivering excellent education to our members is paramount and the OGSA is looking forward to partnering with the CGSA for the virtual conference and trade show in its place. We hope to see the same level of interest from our members as we pivot to this new format.”

The virtual event will be held from March 1 - 3, 2022 using the highly successful and interactive platform, pheedloop. Kathryn Wood, CGSA COO states, “We will build upon the success of the 2021 Canadian and will continue to provide the educational content and networking that members have come to expect. Given the virtual event flexibility we will also explore adding additional sessions that would not have been able to happen with our in-person event.”

The Virtual event will also have a trade show which will allow attendees to browse the booths and see what the exhibitors have to offer; including an option to chat with exhibitors in real time to ask questions and get answers on the spot.

On behalf of both the CGSA and OGSA we extend a sincere thank you to the attendees, presenters, exhibitors and sponsors who have already stepped up to support the joint Canadian Golf Course Management Conference.

More details with an updated schedule, registration rates and sponsorship items will be available by January 10th.  The Associations will contact current registrants, exhibitors and sponsors in the New Year as we begin to share details of this exciting virtual learning and networking opportunity.

If you had booked accommodations at The Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel as part of the conference room block; all reservations will be canceled without penalty by the hotel in the coming days. You will receive an email noting this cancellation. Likewise, if you are an exhibitor and had placed an order with Robinsons Show Services, refunds are being processed.
